Kibble (Dodo Egg)

This pet food recipe has been carefully designed to give balanced nutrition to almost any creature native to the island. Includes plant fibers to help with digestion and egg to bind the mix. Humans have difficulty digesting this.

The main use of this Kibble is to feed it to a creature that you are taming. Kibble has a higher taming effect than other food like Berries or Meat, meaning the taming meter will rise faster, while also dropping the Taming Effectiveness less, resulting in more extra levels when the taming process is finished.

Use this Kibble to forcefully tame a Pteranodon. Simply place it in its inventory when it's unconscious and it will eat one every time its hunger drops by 80 units.

Use this Kibble to passively tame an Ichthy or a Mesopithecus. Put it in the far-right slot of your hotbar. Approach the creature and press the use key (default: E , , ) to feed it when prompted.

For other creatures, this Kibble will be valued less than regular Meat and Berries (only 66% of their effectiveness) and thus is not advised to be used for those.

Dossier Edit

This dossier section is intended to be an exact copy of what the survivor Helena, the author of the dossiers has written. There may be some discrepancies between this text and the in-game creatures.

Utahraptor prime is an incredibly aggressive subspecies of Utahraptor found on the Island. It tends to travel in small hunting packs, attacking smaller prey with its sharp teeth and enlarged foreclaws. One of the faster creatures on the island, Utahraptor often uses their pack numbers to their advantage by swarming around their prey before it can react. The large curved talon on the second toe of this sub-species seems particularly suited for dealing significant damage.

Utahraptor prime usually kill its prey with numerous slashing and biting attacks in rapid sequence.

Despite its normally aggressive nature, Utahraptors have become one of the primary combat mounts for roaming bands of raiders, as well as scouts for larger collectives. Those who ride Utahraptor claim they are difficult to tame, but then fiercely loyal. As a carnivore, once tamed they require a steady stream of meat to sustain.

Behavior Edit

Raptors will attack dinosaurs and players on sight. They attack with a "run-and-bite" strategy, making it difficult to defend against an onslaught. A dangerous predator to encounter in the dark, Raptors are nearly impossible to fend off when attacking in packs and aided by darkness. The Raptors often attack from different directions, using this method to take down prey while avoiding damage. Due to their high speed, they are hard to flee from during a player's early levels, and it is advised to make for deep water if attempting to flee an attack or run behind a door and immediately shut it.

Appearance Edit

The raptor is a relatively small dinosaur with feathers on the head, back, tail, and on the backs of the arms. They come in a variety of colors, although green and reddish brown seem to be the most common it is rare in the color black.

Color Scheme and Regions

This section displays the Raptor's natural colors and regions. For demonstration, the regions below are colored red over an albino Raptor. The colored squares shown underneath each region's description are the colors that the Raptor will randomly spawn with to provide an overall range of its natural color scheme. Hover your cursor over a color to display its name and ID.

Server admins can use this region information in the Console Command "cheat SetTargetDinoColor <ColorRegion> <ColorID>".

For example, "cheat SetTargetDinoColor 0 6" would color the Raptor's "body accent" magenta .

Region 2 is not used

for this Creature.

KO Strategy Edit

Start with a thrown Bola to keep it from pursuing you. Once it's immobile, use Tranquilizer Arrows (headshots result in quicker knockouts). Do this carefully; it should not take very many. Once it is unconscious, use Narcotic. Narcotics and Prime Meat will tame it more efficiently. Narcoberries and Raw Meat also work. Keep a sharp lookout for other raptors as they often come in groups, and for other predators, as they are frequently found in high-traffic areas; unless you have a large herd of supporting dinos or a number of tribemates to help out, you may have to take the time to find an isolated Raptor, which can take a long time, or kill off the extra creatures.

Taming Food Edit

Note that the values are for optimal cases, always bring extra supplies!

For a level-dependent count of resources needed, try an external taming calculator.

They run fast and attack faster, so be prepared for a quick reaction, usually a player with good speed and stamina can outrun them, but be aware, they can be persistent. Always check the raptor's surroundings and be prepared, they have a good visual range.

General Edit

Raptors can often be found in packs of two or more, depending on the zone you will find them close to the shores, or deep in the jungle.

Strategy Edit

The best strategy is to keep distance or heavily engage with them, depending on your stats, armor and weaponry. At first you may want to avoid them. One trick is to run to a herd of trikes, Stegos etc. and get the raptors to hit and aggro them by accident, making a diversion or a means to gather lots of meat and hide. If a Raptor is a low level, a Spear can easily kill it, but beware, if they are in a pack of two or more, this strategy will not work! A way to kill high level ones, or two or more Raptors is to have a good climber, like a Thylacoleo, or a flyer. Then climb onto a big rock, as they are good jumpers, from there, shoot it with a Sling, Bow, Crossbow etc. It should die fairly quickly.

Also, make sure the Raptor is not glowing red. If it is, that's an Alpha Raptor!

Weaponry Edit

One well placed headshot with a Crossbow can take out a Raptor with a level between 1-20. Since they are fast, try to make them run in a straight line and be ready for shooting. A full set of hide armor or other armor stronger than cloth armor and any weapon will also do.

Dangers Edit

Raptors can be dangerous if they reach you from behind, eventually you will learn to recognize their steps on the ground and start running before this happens. Try to take them out when they are engaged with some big animal if you want to easily kill them, just don't hit the bigger animal!

Weakness Edit

Raptors have a very low Torpor tolerance, you can try to knock them out with a few punches if you have a high melee damage stat. Wild raptors also make for awkward swimmers, and even a relatively ill-equipped survivor with a basic spear can lure them into the shoreline as a tide-turning last resort.

They can be useful and lightweight for traveling, as far as their Stamina lasts, you may want to increase their Stamina if you want them for transport, or their health and attack damage if you want them to assist you on combat. They gather about the same or slightly more material per carcass than a Stone Pick, but finish gathering faster.

Roles Edit

• Damage: A quick attacker with decent damage that can easily circle slower enemies, the raptor makes for a good attack animal (Health and Melee Damage).
• Hunter: Similar to Damage, the raptor is a good meat and hide provider once you have a saddle, though metal and stone weapons are more efficient (Health and Melee Damage).
• Hunting/Battle Pack: Although they do individually less damage than direwolves, they tame faster and thus can be more easily assembled in larger numbers; pick the best to ride, or saddle up a bigger beast to be the core of your little army (Level Damage and Health to all Raptors, with Stamina, Carry Weight, Melee Damage and Health added to the one ridden).
• Travel: Raptors are very fast, and make for good mounts for quick travel around the island. They cannot carry much, however, so they make for poor pack animals (Level Speed, Stamina, and Carry Weight).
• Light Cavalry Mount: With the advent of the ability to use melee weapons like Pikes and firearms like the Assault Rifle from the back of medium to small sized mounts, the Raptor can be very useful as a flanking cavalry mount by sprinting in and having the rider fire at close range or by allowing a sniper to rapidly circle around the enemy, fire, and then reposition or escape (Level Health, Stamina, and Speed, with Carry Weight as needed).
• Companion or Pet: Even though most of high level players prefer Sabertooths and Wolves as fast mounts (because of their strength), many of them still keep Raptors as pets (Level Health and Weight).
• Cave Mount: Sabertooths can be seen as an upgrade of the Raptor in terms of strength. But it turns out that Sabertooths have big trouble to attack airborne creatures because of their extremely low hit box and the fact that their jumps lack vertical reach. They can hardly handle a swarm of Onycs. Raptors have no problems hitting Onycs and are therefore the better choice. But you must keep an eye on your own health since airborne creatures deal damage to the rider, unless you ride a Megaloceros. Having a mount in caves has several advantages: Your food and water count drop slower, the mount can carry useful stuff, and they deal and take damage (Level Health, Damage, and Stamina).
• Early Prime Meat Hunter: As one of the first prime meat gatherer available for a player raptor can hunt alone or in a very effective team with Ichthyornis. In the second case you just need to command seagull to Hunt and Retrieve small creatures like Dodo and Lystro and Raptor will do the butchering.

Collectibles Edit

Like all other dinosaurs, breeding raptors requires a tamed male and a tamed female (they don't need to belong to the same person or even the same tribe), confined to a small enough area that they stay very close to each other for long enough to mate. Both dinosaurs must have wandering enabled. The raptors will not mate if either of them is set to follow a player or another creature, or is being ridden.

The two raptors must stay very close to each other in order to mate. The only room size that guarantees this closeness is 1 wall x 1 wall - even 1x2 is too large! (Of course, you could use a larger pen if you wanted to have an element of chance or luck involved.) Tamed raptors will not damage structures during a mating attempt so a mating pen can be built quickly and cheaply out of thatch walls and wooden fence foundations. Since raptors can walk through a doorway, a reusable mating pen can be constructed by using at least one thatch doorframe/thatch door to form one side of the mating pen. (Note that a thatch door can open inwards or outwards, and raptors can only be ridden through the doorway with the door facing one direction - if the raptor doesn't fit, close the door and open it the other way.)

After penning both raptors together, enable wandering on both of them. If an attempt is underway, the information panel for the female will say 'Mating with [male's name and level]' and a progress bar will appear below her. A mating between a level 52 male and level 15 female took approximately 3 minutes. As soon as the mating bar fills, the female will lay a fertilized egg. She cannot mate again for 1.5 hours; the male can mate as often as needed.

Incubating the egg

The fertilized egg will only make incubation progress when on the ground (not when in any inventory) and when maintained at the correct temperature. If the egg is on the ground and it is too hot or too cold, it will lose health over time. The egg will NOT lose health in the player's inventory so you can save an egg from bad weather by picking it up and holding it until the temperature is more agreeable. The incubation temperature range for a raptor egg is 20-27 degrees Celsius (68-82 degrees Fahrenheit). The egg is too cold at 19 degrees or below, and too hot at 28 degrees and above.

• Like many other Dromaeosauridae it is believed that Utahraptor did not use its sickle claw as a slashing weapon, but rather for stabbing. This is due to the very thick profile of the claw. Dromaeosaurs such as Utahraptor, Velociraptor, and Deinonychus likely used their claws to puncture arteries and even organs to cause internal bleeding, killing the prey quickly due to blood loss. They may also have used their sickle claw to hold onto their prey while using primarily their hands and teeth to deal injuries.
• The species of Utahraptor ostrommaysorum was first studied and named after the release of the movie Jurassic Park, in which a similar dinosaur was erroneously called Velociraptor. The actual Velociraptor mongoliensis was about the size of a large turkey, and have only been found in Mongolia. The dinosaur from Jurassic Park was being excavated in the Badlands of Montana, while Utahraptor ostrommaysorum was discovered in the Dalton Wells Quarry of east-central Utah.
• Despite the Raptors in ARK being identified as a species within the genus Utahraptor, the skull seen in its dossier is of Velociraptor rather a member of the subfamily Dromaeosaurinae, which Utahraptor belongs to. The Raptor's in-game model, however, resembles Deinonychus.
• Raptors often kill themselves by attacking stronger herbivores. Some herbivores can even take out whole packs.
• The name of the Utahraptor means originally approximately "Utah plunderer". [3]
• Raptors can be seen as the mascots of ARK. They appear in much of the promotional artwork and in one of the in-game holiday events.
• The Raptors in-game are depicted with only a few feathers, while their real-world counterparts would have had a full coat over their body.
• The Player can use weapons while mounted on this creature.
• The Name "Utahraptor prime" translates into "best Utah plunderer".
• Raptor will be receiving a major update during TLC Phase 2 with a pack boost effect (similar to Direwolf, and ability to pounce and immobilize smaller creatures and survivors for the kill.

ARK: Survival Evolved

Metallspitzhacke ist vorhanden, Flugmount auch.

Für die tieferen Vorkommen solltest Du ein Wassermount haben, am besten natürlich Plesiosaurus oder Megalogon, auch gut geeigenet ist ein Sarco. Ein Ichtyosaurus tuts auch solange du nichts anderes hast, musst aber damit rechnen dass er gefressen wird wenn die Haie in Schwärmen kommen.

Auch empfehlenswert zum Tauchen und zum Suchen ist das Kochen von Lazarus Chowder, das verfünffacht deinen Sauerstoff und hilft ungemein.

Such das alte Öltankerwrack, da könnt noch was sein. ;)

Okay, und jetzt ohne 'Troll' auf die Trollfrage:

Öl ist in großer Tiefe häufiger vorhanden. Die Anfängerölquellen an der Ostküste sind eher die Ausnahme.

Zähm Dir 'nen Hai oder Kroko, koch Dir Lazarus und tauch. (Ichtyo nicht zu empfehlen, stirbt zu schnell bei Haien.)

Ich hab 5 min. im ARK Wiki und 5 min. auf YouTube verbracht und wußte, was ich zu tun hatte. Bist Du nur zu faul dafür oder schlimmeres?

Vielleicht solltest du noch 5 Minuten in ein YouTube-Video über Umgangsformen investieren.

Dass die Ichtys nix aushalten konnte ich schon sehen. Eine Schildkröte hat mehrere von denen gekillt, einfach so.

Die Suppe kann ich noch nicht kochen, weil mir die passenden Pflanzen fehlen - und auch die Farm dafür.

Warum? Plesios kommen nicht durch ein normales Dinogate durch und der größere Faktor: Die Höhe.

Du willst, das dein Tor mit der Spitze aus dem Wasser ragt, da man auf einem Tor nichts anderes mehr bauen kann (Ja, außer ein weiteres Tor, was aber einfach gesagt scheiße aussieht).

Dinogate ist glaube ich 4 Blöcke hoch und das Behemoth 8 Blöcke. Somit kannste auch angenehmer die ganzen Megalodons, etc drin aufbewahren.

in dieser ersten Episode von meinem Taming Guide gebe ich euch Tipps und Tricks, was es beim Zähmen eines Doedicurus zu beachten gibt. Ich zeig euch auch aktiv den Unterschied zwischen der Zähmung mit Vegetables und Kibble (Trockenfutter). Letzteres wird in diesem Fall mit Dilo Eggs hergestellt, alle andere Zutaten zeig ich euch im Video auch!

Außerdem erzähl ich euch etwas über den Doedicurus und dessen tollen Eigenschaften.
