Queen Mary 2 Pet Policy
For forms, instructions and information for taking a pet aboard a Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

NOTE: The kennels aboard the QM2 book quickly, and availability is limited.
The Queen Mary 2 accepts the carriage of pet animals except on the first and last cruises of the season. The cost of transportation will be given to you at the time you make your own booking but will likely range between $800 and $1,000USD..
The ship provides 12 deluxe kennels (they are adding more during their renovation) and a full time "pet master" to provide care for your pet. Be sure to book early as kennel space is limited.
Pets must remain in the kennels or in the adjacent exercise area. Frequent times are available for owners to visit their pet.
Cunard's "Pets on Deck" program, including adding a range of pet-friendly services and amenities such as fresh-baked biscuits at turn-down; a choice of beds and blankets; and even a QM2-logoed coat. As part of the enhanced program, traveling dogs and cats also receive a complimentary gift pack featuring a QM2-logoed coat, Frisbee, name tag, food dish and scoop; a complimentary portrait with pet owners; a crossing certificate and personalized cruise card.
Pets entering the UK must comply with the rules of the Pet Scheme. If you are traveling on to Le Havre then different rules apply. Please note that animals cannot travel unaccompanied on the QM2.
Banned Breeds:
Cunard does limit the size of dogs they can accept. Dog breeds that will be denied travel due to size include: Afghan, Curly Coated Retriever, Bloodhound, Gordon Setter, Borzoi (Russian Wolfhound), Great Dane, Briard, Greyhound, Irish Wolfhound, Irish Setter, Mastiff, Deerhound, New Foundland, Doberman, Pyrenees, St. Bernard, Saluki, Weimaraner, Bull Mastiff and Malamute.
Also banned are breeds and their crosses that are not permitted to enter the UK: Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino and Fila Braziliero.

A certificate of good health is required indicating that your pet is healthy enough for travel, is free of diseases communicable to humans, and has been properly vaccinated. We have helpful forms, instructions and information for taking your pet aboard the Queen Mary 2
International Travel
You must have all documentation necessary for entering the United Kingdom when boarding the QM2 in New York. This includes an Annex IV form, proof of microchip and rabies vaccination, Declaration of Non-Commercial Transport and Tapeworm Certificate.
More Tips for Cruise Line Travel
1. Never give your pet a medical (prescription) sedative prior to traveling on the QM2. If you have a hyper or nervous pet, then give it a natural pet calmer.
2. Always purchase your pet carrier well in advance of your trip so that the pet can get used to it.
3. Be sure to tell the cruise line you will be traveling with a pet as they impose restrictions on the number of pets on a specific sailing.
4. Even though sea travel may be stressful both you and your pet, both of you will be happier if your pet gets to travel with you on your trip.

Description
The Queen Elizabeth Pocket Beagle's head is in proportion to the body. The skull is fairly long, slightly domed, not too narrow or too broad. The ears are set near and moderately low, long, rounded, not narrow. The ears should not be excessively heavy. The muzzle is of fair length and straight with the top moderately defined, not Roman-nosed or thin. It is proportional to the face. The muzzle can be moderately square cut or rounded, but should not be pointy or dish-shaped; it should come to a blunt end. The chin is definite enough to preclude snippiness. The teeth meet in a scissor bite. Eyes are large and round, with a gentle, soft and intelligent expression. Any eye color is allowed. The skin covers well and is not excessively loose. The neck should be well proportioned to the body, not too thick and not too thin. The neck can be of medium length to moderately long, but is never short or excessively long. The throat should be clean and free from folds of skin. The sloping shoulders are clean, muscular, not heavy or loaded, and convey the idea of freedom of action with activity. The back is moderate to medium in length. The length from back of the front leg to stop of the tail is preferred at a ratio of no more than 1:5 compared to height. The overall substance of the dog should be proportionate, without being overly light or cloddy. The hindquarters are strong and cleanly muscled. The tail is moderate as compared with the size of the dog, and free of kinks or twists. Tail set may vary so long as it is not carried tightly onto the back. The coat is short to medium and sleek with good hair coverage. The Queen Elizabeth Pocket Beagle may have a softer coat or a slightly harsher, hound-type coat. All colors are allowed.
Temperament
The Queen Elizabeth Pocket Beagle is a family dog first. It has less of a hunting instinct than most other hounds as a lot of the Beagle in it has been bred out. It should have a love for humans and a preference for its master over its canine pack. Less vocal than its predecessor the Beagle, the Queen Elizabeth Pocket Beagle has a diminished prey drive and a lower activity level, making it more suited to the sedentary life of a house pet. The Queen Elizabeth Pocket Beagle is a gentle, sweet, lively and curious dog that just loves everyone; a happy little tail-wagger! It is sociable, brave, intelligent, calm and loving. Excellent with children and generally good with other dogs. It is a gentle, typically calm dog, but it has a lively and curious nature, making it entertaining with children and generally good with other dogs and pets ideally when socialized with them from early on. These dogs are cuddly and love to be near their owners. However, they should be walked on a leash and confined to a fenced yard because they love to explore. This breed needs a firm, but calm, confident, consistent pack leader along with daily pack walks in order to be mentally stable.

Health Problems
The breed's development began in 2002 and there have not been genetic health issues. Early testing was done on breeding stock as initially selected for improvement of the breed. A corn-based diet should be avoided as it can break down the dog's immunity to skin and parasite conditions.
Living Conditions
Queen Elizabeth Pocket Beagles will do okay in an apartment if they get plenty of chances to be outdoors. A small yard will be sufficient.
The Queen Elizabeth Pocket Beagle needs plenty of exercise, which includes a daily walk. A yard of reasonable size will take care of the rest of its requirements. It is adaptable to the owner's lifestyle and it can "keep up" with vigorous outdoor pursuits, and of course loves a good walk.

About 12-15 years
Litter Size
Medium litters, normally 4-6 puppies.
The Queen Elizabeth Pocket Beagle's smooth, shorthaired coat is easy to look after. Brush with a firm bristle brush, and bathe with mild soap only when necessary. Dry shampoo occasionally. Be sure to check the ears carefully for signs of infection and keep the nails trimmed. This breed is an average shedder.
In Medieval times, there was a breed of dog called a Pocket Beagle, which stood at 8 to 9 inches. Small enough to fit in a "pocket" or saddlebag, it rode along on the hunt. The larger hounds would run the prey to the ground then the hunters would release the small Beagles to continue the chase through the underbrush into their burrows. Queen Elizabeth I often entertained guests at her royal table by letting her Pocket Beagles cavort amid their plates and cups. This genetic line is now extinct. The modern Queen Elizabeth Pocket Beagle is a re-creation of that dog.

Fuglevangs Queen er egen avl efter DKJCH, DKBRCH, DKCH, Danmarksmester 2009 Fuglevangs Heiki og Larcchan v. Forstweg.
Jeg er i min linjeavl nødt til at få nyt blod tilført for at undgåsygdomme. Queen er resultatet af en sådan parring. Hun er en super god hund til at samarbejde, hun har et super temperament, er meget lærenem og der er fart på når der skal være fart på. Hun minder utroligt meget om Heiki som hvalp, så jeg glæder mig at komme rigtig i gang med hende.
Hun er en fantastisk hund at arbejde. Hun er kontaktsøgende, meget samarbejdsvillig, utrolig lærenem, ja, det er lidt svært at få armene ned må jeg indrømme. Hun er nu blevet 3 år og hun er simpelt hen en fantastisk hund. Hun har fundet formen på marken efter en svag start og er nu også kommet i vinderklasse.
Queen har fået et kuld hvalpe i foråret 2017.

Do you love Brahms?
Stefan alias Lichtgewimmel fragte mich nach meiner “Fellnase” und ich komme seiner Bitte gern nach und stelle Brahms vor. Da sich der feine Herr nicht so gern fotografieren lässt, sind trotzdem zwei, wie ich finde, schöne Bilder heraus gekommen. Brahms in einer Denker-pose habe ich in der letzten Woche aufgenommen. Über was er gerade sinniert, hat er mir nicht verraten. Er ist halt ein Charakterkopf, der Geheimnisse für sich behalten und dem man vertrauen kann. Zudem ist er als Foto-Assistent unersetzlich, da wir oft in der Natur, im Wald schöne Bilder gemacht haben, wo er mich zu interessanten Plätzen geführt hat.
Auch sein Hinterkopf kann sich sehen lassen, wie man bei dieser Aufnahme, im Sommer, sehen kann.

He has a character head who keeps secrets to themselves. You can trust him. Moreover he is irreplaceable as a photography assistant. Because he led me in nature, woods to wonderful places.
Still his back of the head is worth to see. I have taken the photo last summer.

Der Schweizer Photgraph Sebastian Magnani´s Bild-Montagen mit Hunden sind mehr als einen Seitenblick wert. Das Projekt nennt sich “Underdogs”. Bei kwerfeldein erzählt er die Geschichte wie die Bilder zustanden gekommen sind. Und auf seiner Website sind noch weitere Beispiele. Danach sieht man den Hund mit anderen Augen.

Wie entsteht ein offizielles Photo der Queen und was passiert hinter den Kulissen? Einen kleinen Einblick gibt dieser Artikel in der Daily Mail.
Vor 60 Jahren bestiegen Sir Edmund Hillary und Tenzing Norgay den Mount Everest. Nach ihnen folgten Tausende und viele fanden dabei den Tod. In diesem Jahr hat es z.B. ein 80 jähriger Japaner als Ältester Mensch auf dem Gipfel geschafft. Und mittlerweile kann man sogar in eine Schlägerei auf dem Mount Everest verwickelt werden. Da schaue ich mir doch lieber die Bilder zu Climbing Mount Everest an und staune einfach.
Das der Berg auch wunderschön ist, zeigt dieses Video. Elia Saikaly hat diese Aufnahmen im Zeitraffer gemacht, als alle anderen noch schliefen. Atemberaubend!
Kommen wir zum Essen. Hong Yi kommt aus Malaysia. Ende April bereits endete ihr Projekt: “31 Days of Creativity with Food“, was sehr schade ist. Hier verbindet sich auf wundervolle Weise Kunst und Essen zu einem Gemälde.
Kunst in hässlichen Räumen
Ja, die gibt es. Manchmal kommt es nur auf das Auge des Betrachters an. Ein Tumblr-Blog setzt diesen Räumen nun ein Bild-Denkmal, wie man hier sehr schön sehen kann. Und das ganze Blog dazu: Great Art In Ugly Rooms (via Dangerous Minds)
Noch ein Tumblr-Blog der Freude macht. Fuck Yeah, Book Arts! sammelt alles rund herum um Bücher und Kunst. Eines von vielen Highlights aus dem Blog kann man hier sehen.

Ein Anruf und seine Geschichte
Deutschlandradio Kultur hat einen Themenschwerpunkt für diesen Sommer und das ist Lyrik. Das Programm ist sehr vielfältig und für jeden etwas dabei. Es gibt Hörspiele, Diskussionen, Raritäten und z.B. den Briefwechsel von Ingeborg Bachmann und Paul Celan. Das Programm zum Lyriksommer gibt es hier.
Wer z.B. bestimmte Sendungen nicht hören kann, dem empfehle ich den dradio-recorder, mit dem man Sendungen aufnehmen kann um sie sich später anzuhören.
100 Tage vor der Bundestagswahl
Das Magzin Cicero kommt heute mit einer Spezial-Ausgabe zur Bundestagswahl heraus. Meedia hat vermutlich schon vorab darin lesen können: “Brender: Schächter hatte damals Schiss” . Das Cicero-Magazin hat die ehemaligen ARD und ZDF-Chefredakteure zum Interview eingeladen und mit ihnen die damalige “Elefantenrunde” u.a. mit Gerhard Schröder und Angela Merkel nochmals angeschaut, die in die Annalen der Fernsehgeschichte einging.

Jeder Hund liebt das Wasser, egal ob schwimmen im Baggersee, spielen im Regen oder frisch geduscht werden in der Badewanne. Doch auch wenn sich der Vierbeiner danach dann kräftig schüttelt, bleibt sein Fell oft noch Stunden lang durchnässt. Der VINDRA Hundebademantel trocknet Ihren treuen Begleiter nach dem Nasswerden und schützt ihn so vor Krankheit und Unterkühlung. Gleichzeitig verhindert er das Beschmutzen von Möbeln, Autositzen und Teppichböden.
Das graue Innenmaterial besteht aus weichem Fleece, welcher die Feuchtigkeit durch seine spezielle Webstruktur abtransportiert und für einen wohligen Klimaausgleich sorgt. Das dichtere Außenmaterial schützt zusätzlich vor der Witterung.
Das Anlegen macht selbst dem ungeduldigsten Hund nichts aus. Der Hundemantel wird einfach auf den Rücken gelegt und mittels Klettverschluss am Kragen und am Bauch geschlossen. Er muss somit nicht über die empfindliche Schnauze und Ohren des Hundes gezogen werden. Auch das Problem des zu engen Halsteils anderer Hunde-Pullover, Hunde-Westen und Hunde-Jacken ist dank der anpassbaren Größe Vergangenheit. Der Kragen öffnet sich zudem automatisch, wenn der Hund einmal am Gartenzaun oder einem Ast hängen bleiben sollte.

Welsh Corgis Pembroke sind sehr anpassungsfähige, aber auch wachsame Hunde. Sie lieben ihren Besitzer und stehen ihm stets treu zur Seite. Ihr Jagdinstinkt ist kaum ausgeprägt, was auch von ihrem ursprünglichen Einsatz als Treibhund herrührt. Von dieser Tätigkeit kommen auch ihre Souveränität, ihre Wachsamkeit und ihr blitzschnelles Reaktionsvermögen – ohne grundsätzliche Aggressivität.
Wegen seiner handlichen Größe kann man einen Corgi auch überallhin mitnehmen. Er ist bis ins hohe Alter verspielt und eignet sich daher wunderbar als aktiver Spielgefährte für Kinder. Dabei sollten die Kinder aber an Hunde gewöhnt sein: Kleine Hunde werden leicht durch überschwängliches Spiel verletzt. Zudem ist ein Corgi ein sehr willensstarker Hund – ein „kleiner Schäferhund“, der eine gute Ausbildung und Erziehung erhalten sollte. Vergleicht man den Pembroke Corgi mit seinem Cousin, dem Welsh Corgi Cardigan, ist der er etwas ruhiger und tut sich mit Fremden schwerer.
Ursprünglich wurden die Welsh Corgis als Hüte- und Treibhunde eingesetzt. Da die Größe des Pembroke Corgis Rindern und Schafen kaum Respekt einflößte, musste er andere Mittel finden. Er setzte aufs Bellen und wurde zum Wadenbeißer: Von hinten kniff er in die weiche Stelle über dem Hufrand des Rindes und trieb es so vor sich her. Heute sind Corgis nur noch selten als Treibhunde aktiv; ihre Neigung zum Wadenbeißen ist stark zurückgegangen. Dennoch solltest du beim ersten Auftreten sofort handeln und es deinem Pembroke Corgi schnell abgewöhnen.
Die Intelligenz eines Corgis macht die Erziehung einfach. Er eignet sich grundsätzlich auch für Ersthundebesitzer. Jedoch solltest du ihm Aktivitäten anbieten, die ihn fordern und idealerweise die konsequente Erziehung ergänzen.
Besitzer kleiner Hunderassen verfallen häufig der Versuchung, zu denken, dass ihr Hund nicht viel Auslauf braucht. Auch der Welsh Corgi Pembroke wirkt mit seinen kurzen Beinen nicht sehr aktiv. Doch das Gegenteil ist der Fall! Er liebt ausgiebige Spaziergänge und läuft auch gerne neben dem Rad her. Du brauchst keine Angst haben, dass er nicht mit kommt.
Sorge dafür, dass dein Hund sich nicht langweilt. Ideal ist dafür Hundesport wie Agility. Noch besser ist es natürlich, wenn er eine echte Herde treiben kann.
Für einen Zwinger ist ein Corgi nicht geeignet. Auch längeres Alleinbleiben im Garten kann zu herzhaftem Protest in Form eines Bellkonzerts führen. Das kannst du als Protest interpretieren – vermutlich hat sich dein Corgi allerdings eine Aufgabe gesucht und warnt dich mit dem Bellen vor etwas, das nur er selbst sieht. Generell ist Bellen eine Standardlösung für alles, was nicht so will wie der Corgi.
In der Stadt
Die Queen von England macht es vor: Ein Pembroke Welsh Corgi kann problemlos in der Wohnung gehalten werden. Klar: Der Buckingham Palace ist größer, aber so oder so musst du für genügend Auslauf deines Corgis sorgen.
Corgis sind gute Balkonhunde, die Neuankömmlinge durch ihr Bellen ankündigen. Das kann im Hinblick auf Nachbarn allerdings ein Nachteil sein. Längere Zeit solltest du einen Pembroke Corgi nicht allein auf dem Balkon lassen.
Den städtischen Infrastrukturen passt sich ein Corgi gut an. Bus, Bahn und Straßenbahn sind für ihn kein Problem. Auf deinem Schoß findet er leicht Platz. Gerade bei dichtem Gedrängel und großem Ansturm solltest du ihn in öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln hochnehmen, um Verletzungen zu vermeiden.
Langer Körper und kurze Bein’ – so muss ein Corgi sein! Laut Zuchtverzeichnis darf ein reinrassiger Welsh Corgi Pembroke eine Schulterhöhe von 30,5 Zentimeter nicht überschreiten. Auch sein Gewicht ist auf maximal 12 Kilogramm beschränkt. Da die Rasse sehr kurze Beine aufweist, ist es kaum verwunderlich, dass Übergewicht schnell auffällt.
Seine stets aufgestellten Ohren verleihen dem Pembroke Corgi einen neugierigen und wachsamen Ausdruck. Im Gegensatz zum Cardigan Welsh Corgi sind die Ohren des Pembroke spitz; seine Rute ist sehr kurz.
Auch das Fell des Pembroke Corgis ist kurz, aber er besitzt sehr dichte, wetterfeste Unterwolle. Reinrassige Pembrokes gibt es in rot-weiß, tricolor und (seltener) schwarz, mit und ohne Abzeichen.
Der Welsh Corgi Pembroke stammt aus Wales, wo er zum Hütehund für Rinder und Schafe wurde. Die ersten Aufzeichnungen über die Rasse stammen aus dem 10. Jahrhundert. Der kleine Hund wurde 1107 von flämischen Webern unter Herrschaft von Henry I. ins Land gebracht.
Über seine Entwicklung gibt es eine spannende Legende: Der Corgi war ihr zufolge der Hund der walisischen Feen. Ihnen diente er als Reit- und Hütetier. Seine besonderen Fellmarkierungen am Rücken und den Vorderläufen sind Abdrücke der Sattel und Gurte der Feen.
Erst 1925 wurde der Welsh Corgi Pembroke als eigenständige Rasse durch den Kennel Club anerkannt. Bekanntheit erlangte er vor allem als Hund von Queen Elizabeth II. (bis hin zu einem eigenen Wikipedia-Artikel (englisch)). Seit ihrer Kindheit war sie von Corgis angetan und oft nahmen sie bei offiziellen Anlässen neben ihr Platz.
Dennoch gilt die Rasse als vom Aussterben bedroht: Ein Bericht aus dem Jahr 2013 zählte lediglich 241 neugeborene Corgi-Welpen. Als bedrohte einheimische Hunderassen gelten alle Rassen mit weniger als 300 Geburten pro Jahr.
Der Welsh Corgi Pembroke ist ein wetterfester Hund und braucht nicht viel Pflege: Einmal wöchentliches Fellbürsten genügt meist. In die Badewanne solltest du ihn nur stecken, wenn er extrem dreckig ist.
Gesundheit
Der Pembroke Welsh Corgi ist eine sehr gesunde Hunderasse. Hunde im Alter von 15-16 Jahren sind keine Seltenheit. Die größte gesundheitliche Bedrohung ist die degenerative Myelopathie – eine schnell fortschreitende Lähmung, die bei guter Zucht jedoch vermieden werden kann. Sehr selten kommen einige genetisch bedingte Augenkrankheiten vor.

Seattle Parks and Recreation welcomes you to explore and enjoy most parks (on a leash), and we offer 14 exciting Off-Leash exceptions! At these designated off-leash areas, you are free to run, roll over, meet new friends, work out, play with your owners and socialize with your canine friends.
Dogs are not allowed at organized athletic fields, beaches, or children's play areas in Seattle parks, per the Seattle Municipal Code. Dogs must be on a leash at all times unless inside the boundaries of our designated off-leash areas.
Improvements and Closures
The Seattle Park District's Maintaining Parks and Facilities funding initiative provides funding to improve Dog Off-Leash Areas (OLAs) throughout Seattle.
The next two projects include improvements for these parks:
Construction will occur sometime in February 2018 and close both OLAs. (Genesee Park OLA reopened February 9, though few improvements are still finishing up.)

Blue Dog Pond in Southeast Seattle near I-90 is 1.7 acres and is a wide, rectangular field perfect for throwing balls with grassy side slopes that your dog can run up and down. There are interesting art sculptures throughout the park that make it unique, including a giant reposing “blue dog” at the entrance. As a catchment area for excess water, it can get muddy during the rainy season. It is fully fenced and has running water.

This off-leash area of .105 acres is located at 100 Dexter Avenue North in the north-central sector of Denny Park, off John Street. Denny Park was created in 1883 and is the City’s oldest park; influenced by the Olmsted Plan. The park has large trees and is carefully landscaped with grass and an assortment of plantings. There is a children’s play area, benches and recently installed lighting. The off-leash area is located in the South Lake Union neighborhood. This park and the off-leash area is wheelchair accessible. There is a 4’ tall fence that encloses the off-leash area and double gates at the entrance to ensure your dog’s safety. Surfacing in the off-leash area is granolithic gravel.

This off-leash area is located just south of downtown on the north end of Beacon Hill. It is currently 4 acres and offers spectacular views of Puget Sound looking west and to the Seattle Downtown skyline looking north. The park was renovated after the Department of Transportation constructed a bicycle path connecting to the Mountains to Sound Greenway. There is water available for dogs to drink. The fenced area is accessed from a long set of stairs at the north end of the Park. It is ADA accessible from the bicycle trail. A trail runs through the middle of the off-leash area which is compacted gravel and follows rolling contours.

Located in Southeast Seattle just south of the Stan Sayres Hydroplane Pits and just west of Seward Park on Lake Washington, the Genesee off-leash area is 2.7 acres and is completely fenced with two double-gated entrances. It is easy to keep an eye on dogs as the area is relatively flat and secure. The center 2 acres of the off-leash area is covered in gravel, which makes it mud-free in the winter. The park also has a doggie drinking fountain.

Golden Gardens one acre off-leash area is located in the upper northern portion of the park and is a popular destination for dogs. The area includes a wide-open space covered in wood chips for playing and running. Trees are scattered throughout the off-leash area. Tables, benches and a small covered area offer places to rest and protection on rainy days. Parking and a restroom are nearby.

I-5 Colonade park is located on a steep slope under the I-5 freeway just north of downtown Seattle. This off-leash area covers .5 acre with several large tiers connected by walkways and some stairs. It has a crushed gravel surface, several benches, and a potable water source at the north entrance. Since the park is located directly under I-5, there is protection from the rain, making it a desirable all-weather experience.

The 5,400 square foot dog park is located in the west section of Kinnear Park. The site is a corral configuration on a relatively flat incline beneath a towering forest. A steep nature trail runs past the site and offers views of Elliot Bay. The trail connects upper with lower Kinnear Park and leads to Myrtle Edwards and Elliott Bay parks along Puget Sound.
The off-leash area is surrounded by a 4’ fence and has a double gate entrance with a single gate emergency exit in the rear to ensure dog safety. It includes a kiosk, natural feeling wooden fencing, wood chip surfacing, logs and rocks, a bench and native plantings on the adjacent hillside.
On weekends and after business hours the site enjoys a dedicated parking lot behind Queen Anne Upholstery at the end of W. Mercer Street. (Enter at 904 Elliott Ave. W). Mercer is a busy street.
Dog owners should take care to leash their dogs outside of the off leash park on trails and between OLA and parking.

Magnolia Manor Park is located in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle, with entrances at 3500 28th Ave. W. Magnolia Manor Off Leash Area offers spectacular views. The park property is part of a larger site owned by Seattle Public Utilities. In 1995, the Magnolia Reservoir was replaced with an underground structure as part of the Seattle Public Utilities Reservoir Covering Program. The reservoir is surrounded with a chain link fence and part of the remaining space now functions as a 21,000 sq. ft n off leash area with a “chuck it” game zone and dog drinking fountain. In addition, the park has Magnolia’s first P-Patch, and park space with picnic table, benches and walking path.

The Magnuson off-leash area contains 8.6 acres. It is a place where city hounds can romp with buddies in Seattle’s biggest fully-fenced back yard for canines. This off-leash area is the only one inside city limits with water access (Lake Washington’s freshwater shoreline).
The site has a large, generally flat play area, a winding trail with several open areas and changes of scenery along the way, and it gives dog owners and their dogs of all ages plenty of space to “work out”. Most of the trail is compact gravel and is wheelchair accessible.
This off-leash area has a small and shy dog area within the larger dog park. Fencing and signs were installed in coordination with the Magnuson Off Leash Area Group (MOLG). The small/shy dog area is located just to the south of the main entrance kiosk, accessible from NE 74th street.
Magnuson Park’s off-leash area is by far the largest, most popular and most widely used off-leash area in Seattle.

The Northacres off-leash areas contains 1.6 acres. It has open spaces, trails, shade and trees. For people: benches, chairs and a shady place to relax. Restrooms, play areas, playfields and picnic areas are nearby. The off-leash area is in the northeast corner of the park. There is parking available on the west side of the park on 1st NE, and on the south side of the park on N 125th.

Plymouth Pillars off-leash area is located just east of downtown. It is about .2 acres with a long, narrow design, and with a scenic view of downtown. The surface is crushed rock, and it has a unique human/dog drinking fountain inside the dog park.

This 0.3-acre off leash area is located in the heart of downtown, at 3rd and Bell. There is a 5-foot-tall fence that encloses the entire park, and there are double “airlock” gates at each entrance to ensure your dog’s safety. Street vehicle traffic is substantial in this area. This park also has running water and is wheelchair-accessible.

Westcrest Park is located on a hill above and west of Boeing Field in southwest Seattle. It contains approximately 8.4 acres and features open spaces and paths, a doggie drinking fountain, shade, trees and lots of open space. For people, the off-leash area provides benches, chairs, and a shady place to relax. Restrooms, play areas and picnic areas are nearby. Improvements include a parking lot, fencing, shelters and lighting.
Parking is available in the Westcrest parking lot, which is located approximately 150 yards south of the off-leash area. Dogs need to be leashed when walking between the parking lot and the off-leash area.
A special, separated area for small and shy dogs is located on the southwest side of the main off-leash area.
From the parking lot, follow the path to the right of the playground and picnic area. Beyond the picnic area, you will see the Off-Leash Area ahead, to the right of the reservoir.

Lower Woodland off-leash area is a one-acre dog park on a slope. It has benches and a doggie drinking fountain. It is near Woodland Park Zoo and Green Lake.
